Subway Australia to Shut Down Subcard Loyalty Program in August 2026

Subway Australia to Shut Down Subcard Loyalty Program in August 2026 1

Subway Australia has confirmed that its long-running Subcard loyalty and gift program will officially close on August 31, 2026, giving customers several months to use any remaining Reward Dollars before they expire.

If Reward Dollars are sitting in a Subcard account, now is the time to start planning redemptions. Subway has also removed the previous $3 minimum redemption requirement, making it easier to spend smaller balances before the shutdown date arrives.

Key Dates You Need to Know

Subway will continue allowing customers to earn Reward Dollars until June 30, 2026. After that date, no new Reward Dollars will be added to accounts, even if purchases continue to be made using Subcard.

You can still redeem existing Reward Dollars until August 31, 2026. Any unused Reward Dollars left in an account after that deadline will expire permanently and can no longer be redeemed.

Important dates include:

  • Earn Reward Dollars until: June 30, 2026
  • Redeem Reward Dollars until: August 31, 2026
  • Minimum redemption spend requirement: Removed
  • Remaining Reward Dollars after August 31, 2026: Expire permanently

What Happens to Gift Dollars?

Gift Dollars can still be used as normal up until August 31, 2026 at participating Subway restaurants, through the Subway website, or via the Subway app.

After the closure date, Subway says a separate refund system will be introduced for valid and unexpired Gift Dollar balances. More information about the refund process is expected before July 30, 2026.

If physical gift cards or unregistered Subcards are still floating around, registering and merging them into a Subway account is strongly recommended. Doing this through the Subway app or website may help streamline any future refund requests connected to remaining Gift Dollars.

Unregistered Physical Cards Need Attention

If Reward Dollars are stored on an unregistered physical Subcard, those balances cannot simply be redeemed automatically online. Subway says the card needs to be registered and merged through the Subway app or official website before Reward Dollars can be accessed digitally.

Gift Dollars are slightly different, as they can still be spent in participating stores without registering the card. However, registration may still be important if a refund needs to be requested after the program closes.

With the Subcard program now entering its final months, checking balances early and using Reward Dollars before the August 2026 deadline could help avoid losing unused credit.
