KFC Australia is testing a new Tender Sub for $4.95, with the new menu item launching at selected restaurants from Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

The trial gives KFC fans a new way to enjoy the chain’s chicken tenders, this time served in a soft sub-style roll.

KFC Tender Sub – $4.95

The new Tender Sub costs $4.95 and features a KFC crispy chicken tender in a long sub roll with pickles and sauce.

At $4.95, it is positioned as a smaller and relatively inexpensive standalone option for customers looking for something different from KFC’s traditional burgers and wraps.

Trialling at Selected KFC Restaurants

Unlike a nationwide KFC menu launch, the Tender Sub is being trialled at selected stores from September 29, 2026.

That means it won’t necessarily appear on the menu at every KFC restaurant. Availability may also differ between in-store, drive-thru and online ordering depending on the participating location.

Could the Tender Sub Get a Wider KFC Launch?

For now, KFC is treating the $4.95 Tender Sub as a selected-store trial, rather than confirming it as a permanent or nationwide menu addition.

There’s currently no confirmed end date for the trial. If the test proves successful, KFC could potentially expand availability later, but a wider rollout has not yet been announced.
