McDonald’s Australia is testing a pair of indulgent new desserts, with Loaded Choc Chip Cookies appearing at selected restaurants. Customers can choose between a warm cookie filled with rich chocolate ganache or upgrade to a dessert topped with McDonald’s signature soft serve.
The limited trial introduces two new sweet treats, with both featuring a warm choc chip cookie filled with a gooey chocolate centre and finished with colourful sprinkles. As with most McDonald’s product tests, the desserts are currently only available at participating restaurants.
What’s on the Menu?
There are two versions available as part of the trial:
- Choc Chip Loaded Cookie with Choc Ganache – $7.95
- Warm Choc Chip Loaded Cookie with Soft Serve – $8.95
The standard version features the warm loaded cookie on its own, while the premium option adds a serving of McDonald’s creamy vanilla soft serve for an extra dollar.
According to the McDonald’s app, the Choc Ganache version contains 2,513 kJ, while the Soft Serve version comes in at 3,022 kJ.
A Gooey Chocolate Centre
Unlike McDonald’s classic cookies, these new desserts are much thicker and are designed to be served warm. Cutting into the cookie reveals a flowing chocolate ganache centre, giving it more of a dessert café feel than a traditional takeaway cookie.
The Soft Serve version combines the warm cookie with cold vanilla soft serve, creating the classic hot-and-cold dessert pairing. The combination is served in McDonald’s new Loaded dessert packaging.
Limited Trial at Selected Restaurants
McDonald’s regularly tests new menu items before deciding whether to expand them nationwide. Previous trials have included burgers, McFlurry flavours, desserts and café-style beverages, with successful products sometimes making their way to restaurants across Australia.
There’s no word yet on whether the Loaded Choc Chip Cookies will receive a wider release. If you’re keen to try them, it’s worth checking your local restaurant through the MyMacca’s app to see if the desserts are available.
