KFC Appears to Remove Hot & Spicy Chicken from Western Australia’s Permanent Menu

KFC Hot & Spicy Is Back

KFC appears to be phasing Hot & Spicy Chicken out of Western Australian restaurants, potentially ending one of the biggest menu differences between WA and much of the rest of Australia.

KFC appears to be phasing Hot & Spicy Chicken out of Western Australian restaurants, potentially ending one of the biggest menu differences between WA and much of the rest of Australia.

Hot & Spicy has long been available year-round at many KFC restaurants in Western Australia, while customers in most other states have generally had to wait for limited-time promotions or seek out selected stores.

However, WA customers on Reddit began reporting in early October 2026 that the chicken had disappeared from their local menus, with some saying stores were selling through their remaining stock before removing it altogether.

Hot & Spicy Disappearing from WA KFC Stores

Reports from Western Australian customers emerged over the weekend of October 5, with multiple people saying Hot & Spicy was no longer available at their usual restaurants.

One customer described it as having been removed after years as a permanent staple, while another said their store south of Perth no longer had it on the menu. Others reported that individual stores still had Hot & Spicy available, suggesting the change may be happening progressively as remaining stock is exhausted.

That means availability may currently vary depending on the restaurant.

Hot & Spicy Has Long Been a WA Favourite

Western Australia has traditionally been one of the lucky parts of Australia where KFC customers could order Hot & Spicy Chicken throughout the year.

As recently as March 2026, customers were still describing year-round Hot & Spicy as a regular feature of the WA menu.

Even in previous years, availability could vary between individual restaurants, but the product remained much easier to find in WA than in most other states.

That makes the apparent removal a much bigger change for Western Australian KFC customers than it would be in states where Hot & Spicy is already treated as an occasional promotional product.

Some WA Stores Still Have It for Now

The change does not appear to have happened at every restaurant simultaneously.

Several customers reported still being able to order Hot & Spicy from their WA stores this week, while others said it had already vanished.

One explanation being shared by customers is that restaurants are continuing to sell the product until their existing stock runs out, after which it will disappear from the menu.

For now, the best way to check is to select your local restaurant in the KFC App or website and see whether Hot & Spicy is still listed.

Could Queensland Be Next?

There are also early reports of Hot & Spicy disappearing from some Queensland restaurants.

A customer on the Gold Coast reported that their Miami KFC had removed it from the menu, while another commenter claimed a manager had told them the product was being phased out more broadly. Other Queensland customers, however, said it was still available through their local stores.

That makes it too early to say whether Queensland’s permanent Hot & Spicy availability is also coming to an end.

KFC Has Not Announced the Change

KFC Australia does not appear to have made a public announcement confirming that Hot & Spicy has been permanently discontinued in Western Australia.

Its national website currently promotes other chicken products and limited-time offers, but does not provide a clear statewide statement about Hot & Spicy availability.

Because some WA restaurants still appear to have stock, it is better to describe the change for now as an apparent phase-out rather than a confirmed immediate statewide discontinuation.

End of an Era for WA KFC Fans?

If Hot & Spicy is indeed being removed permanently, it would end a long-running advantage for KFC customers in Western Australia.

While people in many parts of Australia have traditionally had Hot & Spicy only during promotional periods, WA customers have been able to treat it as a regular menu choice.

For now, availability is varying from store to store, but the reports strongly suggest Hot & Spicy is being phased out across at least part of the Western Australian network.

We’ll update this article if KFC confirms whether Hot & Spicy is being removed permanently from WA or whether the current disappearance is temporary.
