Hungry Jack’s Free Cheeseburger Promotion Returns for NBL27 and Expands to WNBL Games
Hungry Jack’s has brought back its popular free Cheeseburger promotion for the 2026/27 basketball season, with fans able to score a free burger when an away player misses two consecutive free throws during an eligible game.
There is a significant expansion this season. The promotion now runs across both the Hungry Jack’s NBL and WNBL regular seasons, rather than being limited to the men’s competition, while the claiming process has also been changed for 2026/27.
The NBL27 regular season started on Saturday, September 19, 2026, so the promotion is already active. The WNBL27 regular season begins on Thursday, October 15, 2026, when Tasmania Jewels host Geelong Venom.

How the Free Hungry Jack’s Cheeseburger Deal Works
During an eligible NBL or WNBL regular-season game, an away-team player must miss two consecutive free throws during a single trip to the free-throw line.
When that happens, a promotional codeword is revealed during the broadcast and inside the stadium. You can then enter that codeword through the NBL App to start the claim process.
The NBL says eligible games must be played in Australia. You can follow the game in person or watch through the eligible broadcasts, including Channel 9 or ESPN via Disney+.
That Australian-game condition is worth noting for NBL matches involving the New Zealand Breakers. The NBL’s public promotion explainer specifically describes eligibility as applying to eligible games played in Australia, so a game held in New Zealand will not trigger the same offer.
You Need the NBL App and Hungry Jack’s App
There are several steps to claiming your burger this season.
First, you need the free NBL App and must be subscribed to NBL or WNBL email marketing communications. The email subscription is important because the NBL uses your email address to send the unique Hungry Jack’s voucher link after a successful claim.
Once a qualifying double free-throw miss occurs, enter the announced codeword into the NBL App.
You no longer have to redeem the code immediately after the individual game. Instead, the code must be submitted by 11:59pm AEST or AEDT on the day the final game of that round is played.
If your claim is successful, the NBL says you should receive an official email within a day containing your unique link.
Open that link on your mobile, then sign in to the Hungry Jack’s App or create and verify an account if you are not already a member. Your Cheeseburger voucher should then appear under Rewards in the Hungry Jack’s App.
In-Store Redemption Has No Advertised Minimum Spend
Once the reward appears in your Hungry Jack’s account, there are two advertised ways to redeem it.
You can present the voucher’s QR code to a Hungry Jack’s crew member at the counter, or add the Cheeseburger reward to a pickup order through the Hungry Jack’s App.
There is an important difference between those two options.
The NBL states that a $1 minimum spend applies when redeeming through an app order.
That makes counter redemption potentially the better option if you only want the free Cheeseburger.
You Can Claim One Cheeseburger Per Round
The 2026/27 promotion has a one-voucher-per-registered-account, per-round limit.
That means several qualifying missed-free-throw moments during the same round will not give the same account several free burgers. Once you have successfully claimed a voucher for that round, you have reached the advertised limit.
The round-based deadline also means you have more time to enter some codes than under older versions of the promotion, depending on when during the round the qualifying miss occurs.
However, the code still needs to be entered before the 11:59pm deadline on the final day of that round, so it is worth submitting it soon after it appears rather than waiting until the last minute.
NBL27 Is Underway Now, With WNBL to Follow in October
The promotion is already live as the NBL27 season began on September 19, with 13 games scheduled across the opening nine days through September 27.
WNBL fans will join the promotion when the women’s regular season begins on October 15, 2026. The WNBL has confirmed 109 games for its expanded 2026/27 season, which includes the debut of the new Tasmania Jewels franchise.
For bargain hunters, the key thing to remember is the trigger: if an away player misses two consecutive free throws on one trip to the line during an eligible Australian NBL or WNBL regular-season game, watch for the codeword.
Enter it in the NBL App before the round deadline, check your email for the unique link and then load the free Cheeseburger reward into the Hungry Jack’s App.
