KFC Australia Bringing Back Hot Rods From May 12
KFC Australia is officially bringing back Hot Rods nationwide from Tuesday, May 12, 2026, marking the return of one of the chain’s most requested limited-time menu items.
The spicy snack was last available back in May 2024, and after nearly two years away, Hot Rods will once again hit menus across the country until June 8, 2026, while stocks last at participating restaurants.
Alongside the return of the individual Hot Rods, KFC is also bringing back the popular Hot Rods Box and launching a new $4.95 Hot Rods Fill Up value meal.

What Are KFC Hot Rods?
Hot Rods feature Hot & Spicy coated thigh meat chicken skewered on a stick and fried in a crispy crunchy coating.
Each order comes with aioli dipping sauce by default, although you may be able to swap sauces depending on your local restaurant.
Compared to Wicked Wings or Zinger products, Hot Rods offer a different texture thanks to the boneless thigh meat and skewer-style format, while still delivering KFC’s familiar spicy flavour profile.

- 1 Hot Rod – $3.00 (1039 kJ)
- 3 Hot Rods – $8.45 (1983 kJ)
- 3 Piece Hot Rods Combo – $12.45 (3174 kJ)
- 6 Hot Rods – $13.45 (3966 kJ)
- 6 Piece Hot Rods Combo – $17.45 (5157 kJ)

The $4.95 Hot Rods Fill Up Is Also Returning
To coincide with the return of Hot Rods, KFC is also bringing back the $4.95 Hot Rods Fill Up, available daily until 4pm through June 8, 2026.
The value meal includes:
- 1 Hot Rod
- 1 Original Tender
- Regular Chips
- Regular Potato & Gravy
- Aioli Dipping Sauce
- Dinner Roll
You can also customise the meal with additional upgrades:
- Add a Regular Drink for $1.50
- Upsize Chips to Large for $1.60
The Fill Up gives you one of the cheaper ways to try Hot Rods during the limited-time return.
KFC Hot Rods Box Returns Nationwide
KFC is also bringing back the Hot Rods Box, priced from around $15.95 depending on the store.
The Hot Rods Box includes:
- Zinger Burger
- 2 Hot Rods
- Regular Chips
- Regular Potato & Gravy
- Aioli Dipping Sauce
- Regular Drink
The combo mixes KFC’s classic Zinger Burger with the returning spicy Hot Rod skewers and several standard sides.
If you want a larger meal, KFC is also offering these upgrade options:
- Upsize to Large Chips and Large Drink for $2.50
- Upsize Chips Separately for $1.60
- Upsize Drink Separately for 90 cents

The full Hot Rods range will be available from May 12 through June 8, 2026, while stocks last at participating KFC restaurants nationwide.
